I did not have three thousand pairs of shoes. I had one thousand and sixty.

-Imelda Marcos

I was just on Style.com [if you don't know what that is, it is the best website to find everything fashion especially runway shows] and I cameacross my new favorite line for fall. John Galliano for Chistian Dior. It is positively, insanely amazing and beautiful. I would wear every single piece, even if I looked like a damn fool walking down the street, with pride and poise. This is such a nice soft change for Dior this season it is all about being womanly and undergarments and lace. It is like a new naughtier couture cersion of the 1950s. I wish I had the $$$ to buy that whole collection! agh. too bad so sad. But this reminds me of the X rated trend I have seen so much for fall. It seems that many designers have gone the sexy route this season. Jean Paul Gaultier, Hussein Chalayan, Emilio Puccio, Just Cavalli, and Dior are leading this fashion trend with sheer fabrics, lots of straps, cut-outs, dark colors, leather, and all with a seductive, fetishtic flair. Are you ready to bring out your sexy side this season?

Anywaysss… in other news, I need Chanel’s new mint green nail polish. Its so cute and I can’t seem to find any knock off at walgreens! The color is this adorable mint green as seen on Chanel’s fall runway in jade colored suits and pants. Peter Philips, Chanel’s creative director of makeup created a green tinted nail polish to tie in every detail of the collection together. He put together a palette of ten shades and Lagerfeld chose a mint green based off of his favorite tweed suit. Such an essential color for fall. Ever since I’ve seen all the green used in Chanel’s fall line, I’ve become obsessed! I bought this mint green sash yesterday and almost wore my green tweed coat today. I love bluey greens and lighter ones like mint. I dunno but I gotta get on that nail polish FAST!

Fashions fade, style is eternal.

-Yves Saint Laurent

xxxxxxxxxxxxsmallon3ub3I am in serious shopping fever! I just want to shop, shop, shop, shop! Yesterday I ordered some jeans, shorts, sweatshirt, and a shirt from American Apparel. Thats something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately. I mean, you can buy as much Gucci, Chanel, and Marc Jacobs you want but if you don’t have style, you won’t be able to work it. I find that sometimes I feel just as sexy in an American Apparel dress than some designer dress. Its your confidence and the way you work an outfit that can make or break it. I think you can make any outfit work, no matter where its from, with the right confidence and the right accessories. The designer stuff that I do choose to buy isn’t the simple stuff, its the pieces that are extravagantly detailed and special so it is worth its price. My most favorite designer piece that I have is probably my Marc Jacobs vintage white handbag. It has the most beautiful oversized gold zippers and is just super soft leather. I always find the best designer at this one vintage store on the Haight-Ashbury called Static. I just got this adorable Chanel backpack there last week and a cropped denim vest. Amazing! Well tata for now, need to get ready for this beautiful day!

“Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.”

-Coco Chanel

File-1

This fall should be an interesting one, considering our country’s horrendous state of economic failure, ; but still, as always, the fashion world must go on. Flipping through the various Fall Ready-to-Wear runway shows, I noticed a strange seperation forming. Some designers, Prada, Alexander Wang, Alexander McQueen, Balmain, Fendi, Givenchy,  and Jean Paul Gaultier, seem to be going into the dark, heavy depths of their creative souls, while others like Louis Vuitton, Diane Von Furstenburg, Marc Jacobs, and Isaac Mizrahi are reaching for the bright, hopeful ones. Its like these two groups of artists are looking for ways to deal with this awful economic failure, and finding two very opposite techniques. As always, I look to Prada as a voice for the next season, and as I was looking, I found myself completely and utterly depressed. Everything was dark and heavy wool, the models faces pale and sleepless, hair a mess, I couldn’t help but think of all the money problems me and my loved ones were having, I suddenly felt a little out of control, and my head started pounding. Thats why this quote rings so true to me. Fashion really is a form of expression and creativity, and really is based on what is going on around the artist and the world at large. This fall line is portraying Muiccia Prada’s view on the world and economic crisis through her clothing. And I think thats a beautiful thing, because if we can’t express our views and thoughts through our clothing, what can we do? Thats one of the most important things we must remember through these hard times… Fashion and style must live on!
